Meals
The Children’s Learning Center serves breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack daily in accordance with the Texas Department of Agriculture’s Child Care Food Program. Meals are served to every child at no additional charge.
All meals and snacks meet the Child Care Food Program guidelines for nutritious, appropriate foods for young children. Our menus, kitchen facilities, and cooking procedures meet the guidelines as well. Our kitchen is inspected regularly by the Hunt County Health Department.
We welcome menu suggestions; however, we are not allowed to prepare separate meals for children based on their preferences. We do make substitutions for medical, religious, and parent preference with written documentation from the child’s physician for medical needs or from a parent for religious reasons.
The CLC DOES NOT serve peanut butter or nut products at any time due to possible allergies.
Infants are served foods based on parent’s instructions if it also meets our rules from the Federal Food Program. We feed infants on demand, which is usually based on parent’s requests, but an infant will never be made to wait to eat.
All other children eat at the following designated times:
Breakfast is served to all 7:30-8:00 a.m. We ask that children arrive by 7:45 a.m. so they will have time to eat with their class.
Lunch
Insect Garden 10:30 a.m.
Explorers 10:45 a.m.
Trailblazers 11:30 a.m.
Snack
Insect Garden 1:45 p.m.
Explorers 1:45 p.m.
Preschool 2:30 p.m.
School Age 4:00 p.m
During meal times, our cook and teachers encourage children to try new and different types of foods that they may not eat at home. The “try bites” sometimes surprise the children and they decide they do like something!
