The mission of the Texas A&M University-Commerce Safe Spaces Ally Project is to enhance the campus and community climate in order to create a safer, freer, and more welcoming environment for all individuals regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.  We work to reduce inequality, homophobia, transphobia, biphobia, and heterosexism.  The Safe Spaces Ally Project is a direct response to the need for increased support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and ally issues on college campuses both locally and nationally, and their surrounding communities.

Message from the Dean of Campus Life & Student Development

Dear Lions,

Texas A&M University-Commerce is an inclusive and welcoming community recognized globally as a “campus that cares.” One of the many programs at TAMUC that supports this mission is Safe Spaces, a national training program designed to foster an environment of respect and understanding for all, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identification.

Please take time to learn more about this invaluable program.  Your participation and willingness to become an Ally is vital to its success and our mission.  Together we can make certain that every student finds Texas A&M University-Commerce to be a welcoming and accepting campus that celebrates and embraces diversity and uniqueness in all forms.
