Student Organization Awards 2017-2018

The Student Organization Awards recognize the accomplishments of registered student organizations and student leaders at Texas A&M University-Commerce. The annual awards ceremony will be held on Monday, April 16th, 2018 at the Rayburn Student Center Conference Rooms from 5:00pm - 6:30pm.

Nominations will be taken till April 2nd, 2018. Click on the links below to submit a nomination for each award.

Student Organization Criteria

To be eligible for the Student Organizations Awards your organization must meet the following criteria:

  1. Student Organization must be recognized by the University.
  2. Organization must be registered as active on ManeSync.
  3. Organization must have a full-time Faculty or Staff advisor.

Student Organization Award Categories:

  1. Campus Program of the Year
    This award is designed to recognize an exceptional program hosted by a student organization that had a significant impact on the university campus community.
  2. Community Outreach and Service Award
    This award is presented to an organization and its membership who have made service an integral part of their organization by engaging in community outreach and service activities.
  3. Highest Student Organization GPA
    This award will be presented to a Student Organization with the highest average overall GPA. 
  4. Lion Student Leader Award 
    This award will be given to a Freshman or Sophomore student member who has demonstrated exceptional leadership and service to their student organization.
  5. New Student Organization of the Year
    This award recognizes a newly registered student organization exhibiting initiative in organizational development and strong potential to contribute to the quality of campus involvement as a recognized student organization at Texas A&M University-Commerce.
  6. Student Organization of the Year
    This award recognizes a student organization for its remarkable contributions to the campus community, its growth in membership, development of student leaders, and creativity in programming.
  7. Student Organization Advisor of the Year
    The Student Organization Advisor Award will be given to a faculty or staff advisor that has demonstrated a high quality of service to the organization he or she advises.
  8. The Inclusivity Award
    This award is presented to an organization that fosters learning opportunities, contributes to the scholastic and leadership growth for its members, and focuses on fostering interactions between members. This award is also given for excelling in promoting awareness and offering events surrounding social justice in order to foster an organization built on the fundamentals of equality.
  9. The Unsung Hero Award
    This award will be given to recognize a student organization member who often places his/her heart and soul into everything but often will go un-noticed for their valiant efforts. This student may be classified as often taking a “behind the scenes” approach but always goes above and beyond the standard to help his/her student organization. 
  10. William Leonidas Mayo Student Leader Award
    The William Leonidas Mayo Award will be given to a Junior or Senior student who has demonstrated exceptional leadership and service to their student organization.
