What is Lions for Life?

Lions for Life is a group of alumni and friends who maintain a pattern of giving to A&M-Commerce annually. Some alumni make several gifts each year, while others make only one. Donors who support A&M-Commerce with at least one gift to any designation for three or more consecutive calendar years are recognized as members of Lions for Life. Recognition as a Lion for Life is renewable annually.

 Why Lions for Life - doesn't tuition pay for everything that is needed?

A&M-Commerce receives approximately 37% of its operating budget from state allocations. As state support will decline in the coming years, private support from our alumni and friends will be more critical than ever before in sustaining our reputation as an excellent provider of education.

How will my gift be used?

Your gift will be used any way you choose. You decide where your gift goes by indicating the college, department, program or scholarship designation of your choice. Whether you give using the online gift form, a direct mail response card or over the phone with a student caller, you always have the opportunity to designate how your gift will be used.

Is it really important to make a gift ­every year?

YES! Alumni giving rates are one of the seven primary criteria U.S. News and World Report uses for its college rankings. By giving to Texas A&M University-Commerce, you ensure the rank of our university will climb, while the value of your A&M-Commerce degree continues to grow. Additionally, whether you know the campus as “Old ET” or A&M-Commerce, making a gift is a way of saying “thank you” and offering your support to current students.

 How can I become a Lion for Life?

It’s easy! All you have to do is make a gift of any amount, once a year, for a least three consecutive years – we will do the rest.  As one of our most loyal supporters, you will receive a new window decal for each year specific to your years of participation in support of A&M-Commerce students, faculty and programs. Will you be the first Lion for Life to display a 50-year sticker?

Am I a Past Donor or a Non Donor?

 1)     Past donors are those that have given any amount at anytime

Example: In determining your membership in Lions for Life, we identified each calendar year that you have made at least one gift of any size and gave you credit for that many years of consistent giving history, regardless of whether each gift was consecutive in calendar year, or not. For example, if you made one gift in 1983 another in 1998, three in 1999 and two in 2007, you would be identified as a 4-year member of Lions for Life, with the opportunity to earn another year of membership by making a gift on or before December 31, 2011. From this year forward you will earn another year of participation for each consecutive calendar year in which you make a gift.

2)     Non Donors are those that have not given in the past.

For a limited time, you will have the opportunity to earn three years in only a few months.

Give a gift of any size before August 31, 2011 – earn year one.

Give a gift of any size after August 31, 2011, but before December 31, 2011 – earn year two.

Give a gift of any size in calendar year 2012 – earn year three.

From 2012 forward, you will earn another year of participation for each consecutive calendar year in which you make a gift.
