A&M - Commerce Begins National Search for Deans

COMMERCE, TX – Texas A&M University – Commerce has begun a nationwide search for two new deans following the official formation of the College of Science, Engineering, and Agriculture (CSEA) and the College of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Arts (CHSSA). The colleges were formerly combined under the name College of Arts and Sciences.

Search committees are being formed and chaired by Dr. Hal Langford, dean of the College of Business and Technology, and Dr. Brent Mangus, dean of the College of Education and Human Services. Each department head will nominate a few members of their faculty to serve on the committees. Members of both committees will consist of department heads, faculty, staff, a student representative, community members and alumni.

During the search process, Dr. Salvatore Attardo will serve as the interim dean for CHSSA and Dr. Jerry Parish will serve as the interim dean for CSEA, until permanent deans are found.

“Dr. Attardo and Dr. Parish will bring the expertise, experience and leadership needed for the transition of these two new colleges to independent status,” Dr. Larry Lemanski, provost and vice president of academic affairs, said. “Please join with me in congratulating our interim deans.”

The two colleges will begin functioning independently effective June 1, 2011.
