A&M-Commerce alumnus named dean of Southeastern Oklahoma State branch campus

Texas A&M University-Commerce alumnus Dr. Bruce King has been named dean of Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s McCurtain County branch campus.

King graduated from A&M-Commerce in May with a doctorate in higher education, curriculum and instruction and was selected as dean of the McCurtain County campus in June. He has served as the campus’s associate dean since 2009.

In 1998, King began serving Southeastern as an academic advisor and coordinator for the campus, then known as the E.T. Dunlap Higher Education Center. He later assisted Southeastern’s interim vice president of academic affairs with campus management during the school’s transition from higher education center to branch campus.

King received his bachelor’s degree in English education and master’s degree in secondary education from East Central University. He has also done post-graduate work at the University of Oklahoma, and taught English and psychology at Broken Bow High School.
