A&M-Commerce Hosts Holiday Gala Concert December 9-10
By Sydni Walker
COMMERCE, TX (November 11, 2011)—The Texas A&M University-Commerce music department will present the third annual Holiday Gala at 7:30 p.m. on December 9-10 in the Finney Concert Hall.
The concert will feature holiday music performed by the Wind Ensemble, University Chorale, “Mane Attraction” Jazz Ensemble and various chamber groups from the department.
The concert concept was brought to the department by the department chair, Christopher White in the fall of 2009, with the first Holiday Gala held in the Rayburn Student Center’s ballroom to a packed house. The performance was moved to Finney Concert Hall last year with the opening of the new music building.
Due to the concert’s growing popularity, it will be offered two nights this season. The performance makes use of the entire concert hall facility with music played in the lobby as guests arrive, as well as musical performances by small ensembles from the side partiers, and performances from the larger ensembles and pianists on the main stage.
The one hour and 45 minute concert will take place in two acts with a 15 minute intermission.
Tickets are $10.00 for adults and university students, $7.00 for students K-12 grades, and may be purchased in the music office. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 903-886-5304.
