Black Holes Showing in the Planetarium

COMMERCE, TX – The Texas A&M University-Commerce planetarium welcomes a new show next month, Black Holes: the Other Side of Infinity, beginning at 7:00 p.m. May 7.

Narrated by Academy-Award nominated actor Liam Neeson, this show features high-resolution visualizations of cosmic phenomena and data created by computer simulations. On the planetarium’s 40-foot dome, viewers will see animations of the formation of the early universe, star birth and death, the collision of giant galaxies, and a simulated flight to a super-massive black hole lurking at the center of the Milky Way Galaxy.

Each planetarium show begins with a display of the Commerce night sky and brief remarks about the constellations, stars and planets from a planetarium staff member.

This event is open to the public. Admission is $3 for those under 18 and A&M-Commerce students with ID, $3.50 for university employees and senior citizens, and $4 for all others. A discount of $1 per person will be offered if tickets are purchased at the same times for two shows viewed on the same day.
