2012 New Year's Resolution: Graduate

 Success coaches make graduation attainable.

Commerce, TX – December 22, 2011 – Texas A&M University-Commerce is encouraging students to pursue a new resolution in 2012-go back to school and finish their bachelor’s degree.

Degree completion has been made easier in recent years thanks to two bachelor’s degree completion programs at A&M-Commerce, the bachelor’s of applied arts and sciences (B.A.A.S.), and the bachelor’s of general studies (B.G.S.). Both programs are offered this spring and seats are still available, but limited, due to the overwhelming response and popularity of each program.

The B.A.A.S. program is designed for students who have completed credit hours in career and technical courses, whereas the B.G.S. is geared toward students who have accumulated credit hours in courses other than career and technical courses. Both programs can be accessed online.

According to Linda Wogaman, a current B.A.A.S. student, the program is well-suited for anyone wanting to achieve a bachelor’s degree, but the people at Texas A&M University-Commerce are what make it top notch.

“I would recommend this program to anyone interested in finishing their degree,” said Linda Wogaman, a current B.A.A.S. student.  “The online application was clear and can be done with ease.  The staff responded in a timely manner to my application and answered all of my email and phone questions.  I was given a degree plan that states what classes I need, and I was given help in choosing which class I should start with.”

Stephanie Holley, dean of enrollment management and retention, ensures that A&M-Commerce is and will always be devoted to the success of its students.

“A&M-Commerce is committed to providing access and resources to students who have a large number of credits, but who have not completed their degrees,” Holley said.  “We are focused on removing the barriers, easing the transfer process and opening the door to graduation.”
