Former A&M-Commerce Professor Inducted in One Club Hall of Fame

COMMERCE, TX—The One Club for Art and Copy has announced Robert Lawton, former professor at Texas A&M University-Commerce, as its first inductee to the Educator’s Hall of Fame. The One Club will also Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, advertising creative Paula Green and director/producer Joe Pytka in the Creative Hall of Fame. They will be honored at a black-tie event on January 17, 2012 in New York City.

Lawton has always been passionate about education. He worked in several design studios and agencies throughout his career before co-founding The Creative Circus with Norm Grey in 1995, a school renowned for its advertising and design programs. Some of his students include photographer Mark Seliger, illustrator Michael Schwab and chief creative officer John Norman of The Martin Agency.

Founded in 1975, The One Club is a non-profit organization that promotes excellence in advertising and design in all forms. The One Club started an education department in 1995 dedicated to helping advertising students nationwide by giving scholarships to outstanding students and producing an annual College Competition. The One Club produces the One Show, One Show Design, One Show Interactive and One Show Entertainment. The One Show Gold Pencils are considered the height of achievement in advertising.
