Inaugural Concert and Reunion of A&M - Commerce Trombone Choir

COMMERCE, TX – The Texas A&M University – Commerce music department will host the spring trombone choir concert and trombone choir reunion at 7:30 p.m. May 3rd in the new Jack and Lou Finney Concert Hall. The concert is free to the public.

All trombone choir alumni and friends are invited to participate in this celebration. A short rehearsal is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. for those that want to join the trombone choir at the conclusion of the concert. The music department requests that all those interested RSVP so that they may prepare properly.

The choir, directed by Jimmy Clark, associate professor of music, will perform a diverse program that includes music by Holst, Gabrieli, Bach and Shostakovich. Guest conductors for the concert will include Phillip Clements, director of instrumental activities for the department of music, and Barry Tagg, graduate trombone student. Dr. John Burkett, associate professor of music, will accompany the choir as the guest organist.

Barney McCollum, a graduate of the music program, will be the guest soloist for the concert. He is a sought after trombonist who has performed with the Dallas Wind Symphony and the Plano Symphony. A former member of the “President’s Own” United States Marine Band, McCollum was a founding member of the trombone quartet.
