COMMERCE, TX—Texas A&M University-Commerce will formally dedicate the new music building at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, October 21 with a series of campus events throughout the day. A&M-Commerce President Dan Jones, Senator Robert Deuell, Representative Dan Flynn, and John Sharp, The Texas A&M University System Chancellor, will be in attendance.
The $29 million building was completed in fall 2010. It includes the Jack and Lou Finney Concert Hall, recital hall, five rehearsal halls, classrooms, piano and electronic music labs, studios and practice rooms.
“This is the most efficient music building I have ever worked in, visited, toured, or performed in,” said Dr. Chris White, A&M-Commerce music department head and professor. “It’s a visible celebration of the university’s legacy in music performance and education. The building will stand as a testament to everyone who enters the campus gate that we are serious about what we do at A&M-Commerce.”
