Second Annual BEST Robotics Competition

COMMERCE, TX—Texas A&M University-Commerce and the Department of Engineering &Technology will hold the second annual Lion’s Pride BEST robotics competition in the field house on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 9:30 a.m.

This event is free and open to the public. Audiences will get to see the competitions, and there will also be live bands and cheerleaders.

Best robotics is a non-profit organization that promotes science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields, through sports-like robotic competition. Teams are made up of students from middle school and high school. They have six weeks to design and build a robot to compete in the fall competition.

Any school is allowed to compete, free of charge. This year there will be 20 teams competing, up from 13 last year. The schools include:

  • Commerce Middle School
  • Community High School
  • Community Middle School
  • Cumby High School
  • Ford High School Quinlan
  • Greenville Christian School

  • Leonard High & Junior High School
  • North Lamar High School
  • Rains High School
  • Redwater High School
  • Stone Junior High School North Lamar
  • The Fulton School Heath
  • Thompson Middle School Quinlan
  • Utley Middle School Rockwall
