Western Week Returns to A&M-Commerce

COMMERCE, TX – Western Week returns to Texas A&M University-Commerce thanks to a partnership between Gee Library and the Commerce Public Library. This week-long event is part of National Library Week and the precursor to the Bois d’Arc bash.

The week will be highlighted by a concert and dinner from 5:30-8p.m. Friday, April 12, in the Commerce City Park and will feature western cuisine served out of an authentic chuck wagon, and music by Kim O’Conner, the Modern Singing Cowboy.

Other Western Week events include:

  • Sun. April 10 – Ceremony in Author’s Park, 1:30 p.m. Reception/open house in Commerce Public Library, 2-3:30 p.m.
  • Mon. April 11 – Readings from Memories of Old ET at Gee Library, 2-4 p.m.
  • Tue. April 12 – Kickoff celebration of Western Week at Student Access and Success Center, time TBA.
  • Wed. April 13 – Writing & Performance workshop with Cowboy Poet Lanny Joe Burnett, at Gee Library, 10-11:30 a.m.
  • Thur. April 14 – Open Mike Poetry Contest, sponsored by the Mayo Review, Cow Hill Express, 7-9 p.m.
