The College of Education and Human Services at Texas A&M University-Commerce enjoys a well-deserved reputation for innovation, productivity and quality.  As the largest college in the university, we are committed to preparing quality educators and human services professionals to serve the region, state and nation.

Our education and human services programs represent diverse disciplines, including elementary education, secondary education, educational leadership, special education, health education, exercise science, recreation, psychology, counseling, higher education, social work, nursing, organizational leadership, instructional technology and library sciences.  Because of our many community and statewide partnerships, we are able to provide students with the knowledge, skills and hands-on experience needed for success in their chosen profession.

The level of partnerships and collaboration was illustrated not long after I arrived in April 2014.  I asked the department heads to send me the list of organizations we work with on a regular basis  The list ranged from longstanding formal partnerships with Mesquite ISD, to small internship arrangements like we had with Reebok.  Counting school districts and not schools, we have collaborative efforts with over 560 organizations.  In addition to schools, collaborative efforts include hospitals, health services, government agencies, addiction facilities, sports teams, recreation centers, cities, community colleges and other higher education institutions.

I hope you enjoy learning about the exceptional work of our faculty, students and staff.  I cannot express what a pleasure it is to serve as dean.  I welcome your feedback, questions and ongoing engagement with the College.

- Dr. Tim Letzring, Dean, College of Education & Human Services
