Zenetta Drew Recognized as a Distinguished Alumni Recipient for the College of Business

Zenetta S. Drew has been with Dallas Black Dance Theatre (DBDT) since 1987 and has seen the company develop from an annual operating budget of $175,000 to over $3.9 million. The company's yearly services have grown from 30 to over 600 with national and international venues, and audience growth has increased from 20,000 to 150,000 annually. To date, the company has performed in 31 states, 15 countries and on five continents. Prior to DBDT, Drew spent 12 years in accounting and management at ARCO Oil and Gas Co.

Drew serves on multiple boards, including the Board of Governors for TACA (The Arts Community Alliance), the Advisory Board of the National Center for Arts Research at Southern Methodist University, the College of Business Advisory Council for Texas A&M University-Commerce, Downtown Dallas and DataArts (formerly the Cultural Data Project). She serves as Treasurer for both the Dallas Arts District and the City of Dallas' Dallas Development Fund and is a member of the Women Presidents' Organization.

Drew has guest lectured at SMU, the Texas Society of CPA's Nonprofit Organizations Conference, Syracuse University, LeMoyne College and A&M-Commerce. She was commencement speaker for A&M Commerce's graduation ceremonies in August 2014 and has been a speaker at Leadership Dallas, Leadership Texas, Leadership America and the North Texas Business Council for the Arts for multiple years. Drew has conducted Non-Profit Leadership and Board training for numerous arts agencies and non-profit groups and was speaker at SMU's Annual Women's Symposium in 1988.

Drew holds a BBA in Accounting from Texas A&M University-Commerce and a Management Certificate in Non-Profit Leadership from Brookhaven College. She is also a graduate of Leadership Dallas, Leadership Texas, and Leadership International. Drew is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and St. Paul Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas.
