1. Could I meet an advisor and receive more information?
We have many locations in which we can meet you in person. From Dallas, to Rockwall as well as at our main Campus in Commerce. Feel free to contact us and make an appointment. You can also complete this form to receive information about our programs delivered directly to your email and mailing address.

3. What scores / documentation do I need to enter the program?
To qualify for FULL admission an applicant would need a 4-year undergraduate degree from an accredited university with a grade point average of 3.0 or better. If below 3.0 then you need a GMAT or GRE. For complete information, please refer to this link: ADMISSION INFORMATION
4. How do I apply?
- Complete an Application via Apply Texas.

- +Submit your current Resume/Vita
- +Write & submit your Application Letter (Outlining your career goals and objectives, approx 500 words)

5. How do I get an application packet?

6. Is there an application fee?
Yes. A $50.00 fee is required for domestic students. A $75.00 fee is required for international students. Pay online via myLeo after you receive your CWID# from the Graduate School.
7. Do I have to take the GMAT or the GRE?
Yes, unless your UGPA is 3.0 or higher. All applications received by the College of Business & Entrepreneurship will be considered, but acceptance into a degree program is a competitive process. No minimum score is required to APPLY. However, higher scores enhance your likelihood of admission. Average standardized test scores vary by semester [GMAT = 400-550] [GRE = 250-300].
8. Do my GMAT/GRE or TOEFL scores expire?
Yes. GMAT & GRE expire after 5 years. TOEFL expire after 2 years.
9. Can I take classes before I complete the GMAT or the GRE?
Yes, Domestic students can choose the non-degree option when making application. Non-degree seeking will allow you to take up to 4 classes (12 hours) before you officially enter the program (International Students ARE NOT eligible for non-degree status). Note however, entering as a non-degree student and completion of 12 hours does NOT waive the necessary GMAT/GRE or any items in the application packet.
10. What happens after I turn in my application packet?
After your application is received and complete in the graduate school, that department forwards the same to the Advising Center. The Director of the Advising Center will review your file for an admission recommendation (full, conditional, denied) based upon your packet, test scores and other pertinent data. Once the admission decision is made, the graduate school updates your information on myLEO. Students can check their status anytime by logging into myLEO. If admitted, the Graduate Coordinator (Sarah.Rooney@tamuc.edu - 903.468.6051) then performs a transcript evaluation and generates a degree plan for you. The scanned copy of your official degree plan will be emailed to you in about 10 days (after the admission date you see on myLEO). The graduate school will send you official notification of your admission status. Students who have been admitted after Spring 2010 can also review their degree requirements on DegreeWorks, if there are discrepancies between the hard-copy and electronic copy, please let us know.
11. Are classes & programs offered ONLINE?
Yes. We currently offer the MS ACCT, MBA, & MS MGT programs completely online.
12. I don't have a business background. Can I take business classes?
Yes. You may be required to take some background courses first. You can fax or email a copy of your transcript to our office for a transcript evaluation Fax: (903) 468-6011. We will notify you of any necessary prerequisite courses. 501 courses are considered pre-reqs and can’t be used as electives. See also Question #39 below as it pertains to this subject.
13. My undergraduate grade point average (UGPA) is too low (below 3.0). Can I still take classes?
Yes. You may take up to 12 hours as a Non-Degree student before you enter the program. At the conclusion of the 12 hours you may apply for conditional admission, provided you have a graduate GPA of 3.0 or above and an acceptable GRE/GMAT score (ONLY Domestic students are eligible for non-degree admission).
14. Do you have conditional admission for those who do not meet full requirements?
Yes. As implied above, individuals who do not meet full admission requirements are automatically considered for possible conditional admission. Admission to a program is a competitive process. Some prospects will be denied. Keep in mind, completing courses in provisional and/or non-degree do not guarantee admission to the program and it does not negate the requirement to complete any entrance exams (GMAT/GRE).
15. What courses can I take for my electives on my MBA degree?

16. I took graduate courses at another university; can those courses transfer into TAMU-C?
Yes, Up to 9 applicable graduate hours can be transferred into your program. Complete this form (making sure to include course descriptions & original transcripts), email the form to MBA@tamuc.edu and let us know the transcripts will follow via USPS. Or you may choose to print the form and submit via USPS w/transcripts to: TAMU-Commerce, CBE Graduate Advising Center, PO Box 3011, Commerce, TX 75429 ATTN: Director.
17. Can I take courses at other universities while I am in this program?
Yes. Approval from the Graduate Programs in Business & Entrepreneurship should be obtained before you register for the class if you plan to transfer it to TAMU-Commerce. Email CBE@tamuc.edu with your request.
18. I have a special research need not met by the traditional mix of classes. Are independent study opportunities available?
Yes. Up to two independent study classes may be taken. Such independent study options should be set up well in advance by coordinating with the particular professor with whom you would like to work (contact them directly for approval). Documentation and approval is required by the Department Head and/or Professor teaching the class, at their discretion.
19. Can I do an Internship/CPT with my business & entrepreneurship degree plan?
Yes. The College makes available a 1-hour Internship & Career Issues course. This course is in addition to any required hours for your degree and does not fulfill any degree requirements (it is considered a free elective). This course can only be taken in your final semester. 20. The course I want/need is closed (FULL), can I get a permit?
It’s possible; please email the instructor of the specific course. Or if the course indicates ‘staff’ you may contact the Departmental Secretary as well for instructions. If the professor allows a permit, please forward that email to CBE@tamuc.edu so we can put the permit on the system which will allow you to register.
21. Am I required to do a comprehensive exam?
Yes, The comprehensive is required in all Graduate Programs. The following programs: MBA, MSMGT, MSMKT utilize a course-embedded exam in the FINAL course for these programs (MGT 527). To register for MGT 527 you must receive a Departmental Permit. The MSFin requires the student to contact the Finance Department in their graduating semester to schedule their comprehensive.

29. Is there an Honor Society for GPBT students?
Yes, Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest recognition a business student anywhere in the world can receive in a business program accredited by AACSB International. TAMU-C Contact person is Dr. Kendra Ingram.

31. How do I get a 2nd Masters degree from TAMU-C?
You will need to submit an application for the 2nd major and pay the appropriate application fee. You can possibly transfer 3 applicable courses from your 1st Masters on to your 2nd. You must complete a minimum of 21 new hours for the 2nd degree (or 7 courses). See Graduate Catalog
32. What is the Graduation process?
Login to myLeo and click on the link "Apply for Graduation" during the first two weeks of your final semester. Review and verify your information (MBA students w/a minor will indicate their minor on this page), hit "Submit". To complete the process make sure you submit the appropriate application fee as well. You should receive a confirmation email in your MyLeo account. More information on Graduation.
33. What are my Hood & Tassel colors for Graduation?

34. If I take courses online, will that be reflected on my transcript or diploma?
No, our online courses and professors are the same as our live-taught courses/professors. There is nothing that distinguishes the venue in which you took a course on your transcript. Your diploma will simply read the name of the degree you received from TAMU-Commerce.
35. Can my work experience and training be considered in order to waive some of my pre-requisite courses (or entrance tests) for my Master’s Degree?
Unfortunately, experiential work is not regionally accredited and thus cannot be used to waive courses or admission requirements.
“Awarding of this credit will be based solely on experiential learning that is part of a formal agreement between the University and another regionally accredited educational institution or certifying agency licensed by the State of Texas to provide professional certifications, which have historically been limited to universities. The formal agreement shall require the approval of the departmental faculty, the academic dean, the graduate dean, and the provost, and will comply with the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.”

36. I would like to sit for the CPA, what are the State of Texas Requirements?
Texas State Board of Public Accountancy
The applicant must meet specific education requirements before an application for the CPA examination can be filed. These requirements are as follows (Contact: Virginia.Fullwood@tamuc.edu):
Earned a baccalaureate or graduate degree conferred by an accredited institution of higher education recognized by the Board; and
Successfully completed at least 150 semester hours of college credit; and
Successfully completed at least 30 semester hours of upper division accounting coursework, beyond the first two semesters of elementary accounting as defined by Board rule. At least 15 of these hours must result from physical attendance at classes meeting regularly on the campus of any transcript-institute institution. The requirement that coursework must be classified as upper division becomes effective January 1, 2004.
Successfully completed at least 21 semester hours of upper division related business coursework as defined by Board rule. The requirement that coursework must be classified as upper division becomes effective July 1, 2005.
Successfully completed a 3 semester hour ethics course in a traditional classroom setting that includes ethical reasoning, integrity, objectivity, independence and other core values as defined by Board rule. (Effective July 1, 2005) (Review the current list of Board approved ethics classes.)
37. Who will help me with specific letters to my embassy/sponsor?
If you are a Business student, we will be happy to assist you with a letter to your embassy or sponsor, please complete this FORM and allow 4-5 days for processing (you will be copied on the letter via email when completed, we do NOT issue attachments on University letterhead for these letters). Our office will assist with letters to: extend your scholarship, attend a conference (student must choose a conference at least 3 weeks out), and status reports. Note only these letters are written by our office, others will need to be addressed to the ISSO.

39. Can I take a core course prior to completing the pre-req required on my plan of study (degree plan)?
Pre-reqs are required as outlined on your individual degree plan. You must complete the pre-reqs in order to graduate. However, in the event you choose to take a core prior to a pre-req (i.e., Mkt 521 before Mkt 501), receiving a passing grade in the core does not alter the requirement of a pre-req. If you feel an error has been made on your requirements, it is incumbent upon you, the student, to bring that to our attention early in your program so as to alleviate any discrepancies when you attempt to graduate. Email us ASAP.
