Dr. Erika L. Schmit is an Assistant Professor of Counseling at Texas A&M University- Commerce. Her education includes a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, and a PhD in Counselor Education from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.  Dr. Schmit’s primary research interests include counseling outcomes, inpatient settings, adolescent populations, and research methods in counseling. Her teaching interests include research applications and methods and group counseling. Dr. Schmit is an active member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), Association for Assessment and Research in Counseling (AARC), Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES), Texas Counseling Association (TCA), and Texas Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (TACES). Her clinical background included work with children, adolescents, and adults in community agencies, schools, and inpatient hospital settings.
