Scholarships

Each year, competitive scholarship opportunities are offered to students within the Department.  The number of awards and award amounts vary, depending on the scholarship and monies available in each fund, but awards typically range from $250 to $500 each.  Multiple awards may be made from each scholarship fund.  A call for applications is made early each spring semester.  Awards are credited to students accounts for the following fall semester.  Departmental scholarships and eligibility criteria for each are:

GRADY TICE EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP

Scholarship competition open to Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral Students majoring in a Higher Education specialization (HiEd, ETEC, GeL, or TDev) within the Department of Educational Leadership.

ROBERT "BOB" MUNDAY HIGHER EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP

Scholarship competition open to Higher Education (HIED) Doctoral Students with 15+ hours of doctoral coursework and degree plan on file in Graduate Office.

BEATRICE MURPHY SCHOLARSHIP

Competitive Scholarships available to graduate students majoring in Educational Technology-Leadership (ETLD) or Educational Technology-Library Science (ETLS).

TEXAS ASSOCIATION of EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY (TAET) ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

Scholarship Competition open to graduate students pursuing a master's in Educational Technology, a doctorate in Educational Administration, or a doctorate in Higher Education at Texas A&M University-Commerce. Doctoral students will have a minor or previous education in the area of educational technology.  Must have completed and submitted, by March 1st of the semester prior to attendance, an application for graduate admissions and a description of career focus/goals that align with the field of educational technology.  Three recommendation letters/forms must accompany scholarship application.  Must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale, be a U.S. citizen, and a Texas resident.  Requires submission of three reference forms.

DR. SUE ESPINOZA MEMPRIAL ENDOWMENT

Doctoral level students in the Higher Education & Learning Technologies Department.
The student must have successfully completed 12 hours including HIED 695 in the Higher Education Leadership doctoral program with a 3.5 GPA.
The student must register for and complete 9 hours per semester or summer term for the scholarship period.
Preference will be given to students who are not employed full time.
The scholarship is renewable and may be awarded for the Fall, Spring, and Summer terms consecutively for no more than 24 months.
Scholarship renewable upon submission of updated application.
Recipient’s name can be published as a scholarship recipient.
Failure to meet the requirements of this scholarship may cause scholarships to be revoked.
This scholarship may entitle an out of state resident to the Non-Resident Tuition Exemption as outlined by the Texas A&M University-Commerce Policy on Non-Resident Tuition Exemption for Competitive Scholarship Recipients.
