Debbie Mahoney

Dr. Debbie Mahoney, APRN, FNP-BC is the coordinator of the MSN program.  She has 40 years of nursing experience, 21 years of university teaching experience and has been a family nurse practitioner for 19 years.  She received her BSN and MSN from the University of Texas, and PhD in Nursing from Texas Woman’s University.  She received a post-doctoral fellowship from the Kellogg Foundation which enabled her to complete the Family Nurse Practitioner program at East Carolina University. 

Dr. Mahoney has practiced in the student health setting, VA clinic, OB/gynecology, HIV, internal medicine and family practice settings.  She is on the board of directors for Texas Nurse Practitioners.  She has an interest in the underserved and is also on the board of directors for Refuge International, an international relief organization.   She has been on over 30 medical mission trips to Guatemala since 1999.  She also volunteers at a healthcare clinic for the homeless in Longview, Texas.  She has presented papers on the state and international levels.
