Casey McGarr is back in the big D

The Visual Communication program within the Department of Art welcomes assistantprofessor Casey McGarr to the faculty. Casey will be joining the UCD faculty at the Dallascampus teaching both undergraduate and graduate VisCom classes. In addition to Mr. McGarr’s vast corporate design experience, he owns and operates his own letterpress design and print shop “Inky Lips Press,” producing custom invitations and poster work for a variety of local, national and international clients, as well as, teaching educational workshops. Mr. McGarr is also a nationally respected and sought after speaker at letterpress exhibitions, advertising clubs, and universities for both his professional corporate work and his letterpress workCasey was the president of the Dallas Society of Visual Communications in 2000-2001 which is the largest local graphic design club in the United Sates with over 750 members. He remained on the Board of Directors for an additional 9 years. He received his MFA in Visual Communication at Texas A&M University-Commerce, and comes to us fromArkansas State University where he authored and developed the current design curriculum.Casey’s pedagogy prowess, corporate experience and marketing savvy is destined to bring even bigger things to the already internationally recognized BFA and MFA Visual Communication program.
