Journalism/News-Editorial

Staff positions include writing opportunities in news, sports, entertainment, graphics and design, and editorials/opinion columns. Visit The East Texan at www.theeasttexan.com

Graduates of the program occupy positions at metropolitan newspapers, smaller community newspapers, magazines and the rapidly-developing movement of online journalism and social media. Classes in the sequence include courses in writing, in editing, and in InDesign and other software programs, in law, ethics, and history of the press. Students in the Division's community journalism class produce stories for area community newspapers, and graduates occupy editorial positions at community newspapers, in the state and return to campus to visit with current students and Texan staff.

Non-majors may complete a minor in the news-editorial sequence and work on the student publications. Requirements for a major or minor in this sequence are outlined in the University Catalog. Visit http://catalog.tamu-commerce.edu/index.php?catoid=14
