Speech Communication

Studies in speech communication are designed to provide scholarly training in communication for professionals in business, industry, social services, speech education, law, government, and religion. This program produces graduates who understand and can solve communication problems, making them uniquely able to contribute to the growth and betterment of society.

Course offerings include: public speaking, rhetorical theory, group communication, voice and phonetics, persuasion, small group communication, and others. The classroom is complemented by a range of co-curricular and practicum experiences.

Each speech communication program is flexible and individualized so that each student's degree goals and aims are realized. The certification program for teacher education is comprehensive. Presently, students from all academic areas have choices of several speech communication courses with which they can fulfill degree requirements as well as obtain personal development. Students campus-wide find our courses extremely valuable and as a result, speech communication has grown in student enrollment.
