2019 Texas Summer Flute Symposium

Artistic Director: Dr. Julee Kim Walker, Assistant Professor of Flute, Texas A&M University-Commerce

PERFORMER APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED TO MARCH 15th

The 9th Annual Texas Summer Flute Symposium will be held June 9th-14th, 2019 in Commerce, TX, and will feature some of the world's finest flutists and pedagogues.

The Texas Summer Flute Symposium is a week-long seminar for serious flutists held on the campus of Texas A&M University-Commerce.

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NOT A BAND CAMP OR FLUTE CAMP. It is best suited for the future music major, current music major, and graduate/professional flutist.

Symposium: a conference or meeting to discuss a particular subject. (FLUTE!)

Masterclass setting twice a day: A masterclass is a concentrated public coaching for the Performers who participate. Because each turn is much shorter than an actual lesson or coaching and because the master must explain everything to an audience, they'll focus on only one or two very specific aspects of each performance. That way, everyone learns and takes notes. -from CarnegieHall.org
