Breaking Barriers
Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program
Brief Description:
The Department of Agricultural Sciences at Texas A&M University-Commerce has joined forces with the Texas Agri-Life Extension Service and the Hopkins county Professional Agricultural Workers Association to provide timely and relevant training to Hispanic farm workers and part-time farmers and ranchers who are interested in expanding their involvement in farm ownership and management. This three-year project will utilize relevant sociological and instructional models for serving the rural Hispanic population involved in agriculture and will use novel approaches including training in the primary language of participants.
