Dean's Welcome

It's a Great Day in Commerce, Texas!  I have the honor and privilege to welcome you to the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.  It is an exciting time as we take the next step and "Grow Our Passion in Agriculture" at Texas A&M University - Commerce.  Each year offers us a chance to provide a high quality, hands-on education that is filled with learning and career opportunities for students.  Our primary purpose is to serve and educate our students.  Furthermore, we will serve the region, state and beyond for agricultural training, events and lifelong learning activities.

The College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR) at Texas A&M University - Commerce has a long history and tradition of providing access to the higher educational needs for northeast Texas.  We are committed to experiential and pragmatic learning with educational programs, courses and experiences enriched by quality instruction.  We strive to offer diverse, high quality farm and ranch enterprises, as well as, agricultural mechanics, greenhouse and ornamental landscape opportunities that create teaching and scholarly activities.  One of our highest priorities is to foster positive relationships among our faculty, staff, students and industry stakeholders while maintaining a strong public presence on campus, in the community and throughout the agricultural industry.

A&M Commerce has an agriculture program with tremendous potential, one that has seen double-digit growth increases (greater than a 50% increase) during the last five years in both undergraduate and graduate programs.  We accept this challenge for continual growth and to provide the learning and career opportunities needed for each student.  We are proud to offer 6 majors along with 10 concentrations and minor fields of studies along with a Master's degree.  In addition, we offer 16 student organizations and extracurricular opportunities that include:  Collegiate FFA, Sigma Alpha Sorority (recently awarded as the Student Organization of the Year on campus), Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity, Judging Teams (Horse and Livestock, with Meats to come), and active Agribusiness Club, a nationally recognized Rodeo Team, Stock Horse and Equestrian Team, developing Show Teams, and the list goes on.  We always welcome our alumni and industry partners to join us for many events, academic programs, good fun and building lifelong relationships.

Come, check us out!  We are family, and would love for you to become a part of ours.
