A paralegal studies coed in court

Art - International Students

The Department of Art offers graduate courses leading to the MA, MS and MFA degrees. Students may pursue these degrees in the areas of ceramics, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, small metals, and mixed media. Students wishing to pursue graduate work in communication arts, commercial photography or non-traditional media may do so by working out a program of study in consultation with the department head, Graduate Coordinator and appropriate members of the art faculty. In conjunction with other departments it is possible, too, to devise a program of interdisciplinary courses that includes art history and art criticism. Students in the graduate program work closely with members of the faculty, and each student's course of study is individually designed for his or her educational and professional objectives. While any student admitted to the Graduate School may enroll in graduate art history courses, those wishing to enroll in studio or lab courses must apply to and be admitted by the Department of Art as well as by the Graduate School. Admission as a graduate student in studio art or photography thus requires separate applications to the Graduate School and the Department of Art. In the latter instance the student will provide a completed application (available upon request) that includes a statement of intent, letters of recommendation, and a sleeve of at least 20 slides representing his or her undergraduate work. (Official transcripts are not required by the Department of Art since they are sent under separate cover to the Graduate School.)
