Christianity in History Graduate Certificate

The twelve-credit Graduate Certificate in the History of Christianity at Texas A&M University-Commerce provides training for students interested in focused study of the role of the Christian faith in US and global history. Students may complete the certificate independently or as part of their graduate degree.  Contact Dr. John Howard Smith at john.smith@tamuc.edu for more information.

Certificate Requirements:

Coursework must be completed at A&M-Commerce with a 3.0 GPA on all courses used for the certificate.  Twelve semester hours from the following (no substitutions):

HIST 535 Introduction to the History of Religion
HIST 534 Capstone Project in the History
of Christianity
     plus 6 semester hours from the following:
HIST 520 Seminar in World/Comparative History
HIST 540 Seminar in European History
HIST 550 Seminar in America History
HIST 597* Special Topics
PSCI 597* Special Topics
HIST 589* Independent Study
ENG 597* Special Topics

          *Subject to approval by the  Coordinator/Director.

Required Documents for Admission:

  • Application
  • Application fee: $50 domestic student
  • All official transcripts - Bachelor's degree, including all transcripts used towards the bachelor's degree.  Any master's degree transcript or transcripts with graduate coursework (if applicable).
