Homeland Security Graduate Certificate

The Graduate Certificate in Homeland Security is for those students with an interest in national defense.  This certificate is designed to attract members outside the traditional criminal justice field.  It will give students a broad understanding of homeland security issues and enhance leadership capabilities among those who currently work in local, state and federal government and others who are interested in gaining greater knowledge about the field of homeland security.  This program will introduce the student to homeland security concepts, applicable management principles, policy analysis, and enhance critical leadership skills necessary to successfully address security challenges within the United States.  Please contact Mr. Louis Lufkin at Louis.Lufkin@tamuc.edu or 903.886.5325 for more information.

Certificate Requirements:

Coursework must be completed at A&M-Commerce with a 3.0 GPA on all courses used for the certificate.  Twelve semester hours from the following (no substitutions):

CJ 505 Terrorism
CJ 597 Intro to Homeland Security
CJ 597 Red Teaming
CJ 597 Counterintelligence
CJ 597 Special Topics (advisor approval)

Required Documents for Admission:

  • Application fee: $50 domestic student
  • All official transcripts - Bachelor's degree, including all transcripts used towards the bachelor's degree.  Any master's degree transcript or transcripts with graduate coursework (if applicable).
