Extraordinary Leadership Series

New ELS cobrand

The L.E.A.D. department is excited to bring you the Extraordinary Leadership Series! It features innovative programs on and off the Texas A&M University-Commerce campus, providing the student population with various leadership experiences and opportunities for growth in cultural awareness. Each program has a limited number of spots available.

At the end of the year, the L.E.A.D. department will hold a luncheon for students who attend at least FOUR of the ELS programs, recognizing their commitment to excellence.

The Art of Black History - February 5th

Dallas, TX at 12:00pm

Spots Available: Application

For college students learning goes far beyond the class room and sometimes beyond Commerce, TX and we will be traveling to Dallas to enrich student’s cultural experiences.  In the light of black history month this program gives all students an opportunity to learn about enriched pieces of art created by a professional and unacknowledged African American artist.  Being able to express one’s self through creativity has given birth to some of the most captivating arts; jazz, painting, poetry, dances, etc. This event is a chance for students to learn why art was critical through knowledge and experience. The event is open to all students and we encourage everyone to take advantage of this unique experience.

Come and Talk to Me! - February 13th

RSC Conference Rooms A&B at 6:00pm

Spots Available: Open to Campus

L.E.A.D. invites all sexes to join the conversation about the disconnect of communication that is experienced between sexes. Participants have the opportunity to experience together a large array of topics, opinions and expertise that could foster a stronger, more collaborative, and cohesive environment with the opposite sex. Students can expect to learn about themselves in addition to those around them over the course of some very intentional conversations.

4th Annual Bless the Mic - March 22nd

The Club at 5:30pm

Spots Available: Open to Campus

Join us for a night of spoken word, singing, and dance from some of commerce’s very own talented students. If you have a talent and want to show case it in a respected and accepting environment then this is the opportunity for you. Students will also have the opportunity to engage in an exclusive poetry work shop. Performers will have the stage to express themselves freely in their preferred art in addition to a special appearance.
