What is the {I}Experience?

The {I}Experience is an overnight, off-campus personal leadership conference for promising students who yearn to develop their leadership potential. This experiential conference is designed for students to increase their self-awareness and explore their natural talents.

Who can attend the {I}Experience?

The conference is open to all enrolled undergraduate or graduate students at all Texas A&M University-Commerce locations.  Whether you’re a first year or a graduate student, everyone is welcome!

How do I apply?

Apply with the online form, found at the bottom under APPLY NOW on this page.  Applications cannot be saved once started, so be sure to have enough time to complete it in one sitting.  We also recommend you type your responses to the short answer questions in a Word document, just in case the form does not save and you need to start over.  Applications close on Thursday, September 20, 2018.

How are applicants selected for the program?

We accept the first 90 students with quality applications.  Because of this, it is important to both turn in your application early and make sure it is good quality (especially your short answer questions!).  There is no requirement for students to already be involved on campus or with the L.E.A.D. department in order to be selected.  We also accept a number of alternates each year in the event that a student cannot make it for any reason.  All applicants will be notified of the status of their application after Tuesday, September 25.

What is the cost to attend?

The cost of attendance is $30.  Accepted applicants have roughly 5 days to pay the fee online in order to confirm their attendance.  A limited number of scholarships are available to cover the cost of attendance if needed.  Students accepted to the program will be notified how to apply for a scholarship.  This year, payments or scholarship applications from accepted applicants are due by Tuesday, October 2nd.

When is the {I}Experience?

This year, the {I}Experience will be held November 2nd and 3rd in Garland, Texas.

What happens if I have class on Friday during the event?

We ask that you talk to your professors after you’re accepted to the program and plan in advance to miss that day of class (check-in starts around 8:30 am).  We will email faculty and staff the names of accepted students prior to the event, as well as give students that participate a copy of a letter confirming their attendance when they finish the program.  Because it is a university-sponsored event, most faculty are willing to excuse students from class in order to attend; however, you need to be sure to verify that with your Professor(s) before the event.
