This presentation will present accessibility techniques for students with motor sensory disabilities. The disability may be the result of an accident, birth defect, or disease. The instructor needs to take into consideration the physical demands of an assignment for a disabled student. Individuals with motor sensory disabilities need more time to complete assignments or exams. Rest periods may be needed every 15 or 20 minutes by the student. This gives the student's muscles time to relax so the student can continue with the assignment. The instructor can allow the student to give oral presentations one on one to reduce the stress for the student. The use of asynchronous communication tools allows the student to take their time in preparing their assignments. Large icons aid the student because they do not require fine muscle control. As with the other disabilities discussed in this course, these techniques may also aid your non-disabled students in accessing and retaining course content.
