Tina Freeman, B.S.W.

Tina Freeman

Tina is the Educational Technology Specialist.  She assists faculty with the use of educational technologies in online, blended, and face-to-face courses.  She trains faculty in the instructional use of classroom technology such as interactive projectors, digital annotation software, and document cameras.

Tina earned a degree in Social Work from Texas A&M University-Commerce, and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Educational Technology.  She worked for 7 years as a Media Specialist, and has background in 3D Printing, online media databases, and various multimedia tools.

Brett Murrey, M. Ed.

Brett Murrey

Brett is the LMS Coordinator.  Brett provides technical oversight of the day-to-day operations of the Pearson LearningStudio (eCollege) system. He assists faculty with technical aspects of 3rd party tools integrated into the LMS, such as Respondus and VoiceThread. 

As an alumni Brett returned to Texas A&M University-Commerce to assist in creating innovative classrooms with technology.  He graduated from A&M-Commerce with a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a specialization in Special Education.  He also has a Master’s Degree in Educational Technology Leadership from Lamar University.  Brett spent nine years teaching public education in various grade levels.  He utilized learning management systems in his Math and Science instruction to enhance the learning opportunities for his students.  He was an LMS Administrator for two different school districts and offered technological support to student, teachers, and administrators.  Brett presents on different technology topics at various educational conferences around the State of Texas.  He was selected by the State of Texas to review new digital content for Science. Brett is certified in Applying the QM Rubric through Quality Matters, and is a Certified Flipped Classroom Instructor. 

Anne Phifer, M.A.

Anne Phifer, M.A.

Anne is the Educational Technology Developer. She is responsible for administrating and developing new technologies for faculty use in order to further the tenets of Teaching, Service, and Scholarship. Anne keeps the AT website up to date, coordinates course evaluations, and assists faculty with eCollege courses. 

Anne graduated with her MA in English in 2012 from TAMUC and teaches first year composition courses for the University in the Literature & Languages department. She has previously served as a teaching assistant in Information Studies at the University of Texas and as the LMS Support Specialist in the Faculty Center here at TAMUC. In her limited spare time, Anne writes fiction and plays D&D.

R. Mike Smith, M.S.

R. Mike Smith, M.S.

Mike is the Educational Technology Innovations Manager. He provides leadership in the innovative use of educational technology for teaching and learning through research and assessment. He manages personnel related to the functional use of the University adopted Learning Management System (LMS), Pearson Learning Studio (eCollege), and engages the academic community in discourse regarding emerging educational technology for teaching and learning.

Mike earned a Master of Science Degree in Educational Technology from A&M-Commerce. He has served at the University for almost 14 years in areas related to educational technology.  He has led and assisted with the adoption and implementation of educational technologies in both the traditional and eLearning classrooms.

Petra Strassberg, Ed.D.

Petra Strassberg, Ed.D.

Petra Strassberg is the Course Developer II/Accessibility Lead. She assists faculty in developing online courses and course content based on Quality Matters and universal design standards. Her experience with accessibility began as a Special Education teacher in Texas public schools. She teaches online instructional technology related courses for the University.

Petra earned an EdD in Supervision, Curriculum, and Instruction in Higher Education from A&M-Commerce. Her MS in Educational Technology provides a sound foundation for assisting faculty with course development. She holds Quality Matters peer review certification and a certificate in Online Teaching from the Sloan Consortium.
