Position Descriptions

Position descriptions are not available online at this time but will be available December 2017 through the NEW HRIS system, Workday. In the meantime, contact HR If you would like a copy of a position description. A copy can be emailed.

If a position description is inaccurate and the functions have changed, please complete the required Position Description Review Form, attach the proposed updates and route for review.

Titles, Title Codes and Pay Grades

If you believe that your title is missing from the list, the title code is incorrect or you're unsure of which title code to use for a personnel action, please contact compensation with details.

If a position is tied to a pay grade, it requires that the individual in the position earn no less than the pay grade minimum. Each pay grade has a range, however, the employee's salary placement within the range is determined by several factors:

  1. Qualifications in comparison to the position minimum requirements.
  2. System-wide comparison of current salaries of employees in the same position.
  3. Internal equity review of current salaries of employees in the same position at Texas A&M University-Commerce.
  4. Longevity and Merit increases.

It's not typical for an employee to be on the higher end of the pay grade range unless they've been in the position for several years. If a position is growing in responsibilities, it likely needs to be reclassed to a higher title which would result in a higher pay grade. If you believe this is the case, please complete the Position Description Review Request Form and route for review.
