The Federation of North Texas Area Universities is a consortium of three institutions in the North Texas area:

  1. Texas Woman’s University
  2. Texas A&M University—Commerce
  3. University of North Texas

The primary purpose of the Federation is to engage in institutional collaborations for excellence in selected graduate degree programs and fields of study, to facilitate graduate students’ professional development and research opportunities, and to coordinate administrative services for the benefit of graduate students at the three institutions. The Federation has operated since 1968 when it was approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

The 2019 symposium will be held in March, 2019 in Denton.  It will NOT be held at Texas Women's University due to construction.  Abstract submission for TAMUC will be announced in January 2019.

There may be only ONE presenter/author per poster.

Posters are accepted from Master’s and Doctoral students attending
• Texas A&M University–Commerce
• Texas Woman’s University
• University of North Texas

in two categories
1) HUM - Humanities, Education, Social Sciences, & Business; OR
2) STEM - Mathematics, Science, & Technology

1st place $500
2nd place $250
3rd place $100

All students must be on an active protocol (IACUC, IBC, or IRB) to apply.  If your advisor feels that no protocol is required, they must submit a statement explaining why no protocol is needed for your research.

Students must submit an abstract and a faculty sponsor approval form to the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) (orsp@tamuc.edu) on a date to be determined for approval prior to registering online.  All abstracts will be reviewed.

AFTER you receive approval from the OSP, you may register online for the symposium.  You must register online by the Federation deadline.

Online registration deadline: TBA

(Submit your form and abstract early. Space is very limited!  Each university is only allowed 20 applicants for posters to be presented.  Students over our 20 allowed will go onto a waitlist.  Once enough waitlist positions have been filled, we may cease accepting applications.  After the registration deadline, students from the waitlist may be invited to participate if there are open spaces available.)

Attendance is free; however, all attendees will complete the Federation Research Symposium Registration Form. This includes:

  • Faculty (Judging)
  • Faculty (Not judging)
  • Federation Committee members
  • Student presenters - Students will be asked to include an abstract. Students presenting a poster together must register separately and list their co-presenter(s). Any award would be divided between all presenters.

We will provide transportation for approved A&M-Commerce students participating in the Symposium.  Transportation will leave from and return to the Commerce campus.  Once registered, you will receive additional information concerning the itinerary and where to board the university bus.

The Symposium is open to all Texas A&M-Commerce graduate students for master's and doctoral level research. The Federation Research Symposium provides an opportunity for students to present research in a poster format while interacting and discussing the research with faculty, judges, and other participants. Only one presenter is allowed for each poster.  The symposium also provides the participants with a broader exposure to the TAMUC community. The Federation Research Symposium website: http://www.twu.edu/federation/federation-events/graduate-student-research-symposium/.
