Texas A&M International University invites you to participate in the Texas A&M System 15th Annual Pathways Student Research Symposium to be held on Thursday, November 1st and Friday, November 2nd on the TAMIU campus in Laredo, Texas.

The Symposium is open to all Texas A&M system students with separate categories for undergraduate, master, and doctoral level research. The Pathways Student Research Symposium provides an opportunity for students to present research in a poster or oral format, while interacting and discussing the research with faculty, judges, and other participants. The symposium also provides the participants with a broader exposure to the TAMUS community. The Pathways Research Symposium website has yet to be announced.

Registration and abstract submission will begin June 1, 2018 for Texas A&M University-Commerce students.  The approval form and your research abstract must be submitted by September 15, 2018 to the ORSP (orsp@tamuc.edu).  Each student participant will need to register with their home institution.  Students who do not attend Texas A&M University-Commerce should contact the university in which they are enrolled.

A&M-Commerce Support

The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) will support a limited* number of students who register by the deadline and submit an approved research abstract for the symposium. Support includes travel (students will travel to symposium in a bus), hotel, and registration fee. Travel arrangements will be made through Ms. Donna Russell in the ORSP at 903-886-5964 or donna.russell@tamuc.edu.

Checklist to Apply to Present at Symposium

  1. Your research must be approved by your faculty advisor and the ORSP. Your advisor must complete the Pathways Approval Form. The approval form and your research abstract must be submitted by September 15, 2018 via email to the ORSP (orsp@tamuc.edu). Only one (1) presenter per submission.
  2. If your research abstract is not approved, you and your advisor will be notified.  If you are approved, you will be notified.

    There are a very limited* number of participants and judges allowed, so you should submit your approval form and abstract as soon as you can.
     
  3. You must also have successfully completed the Responsible Conduct of Research training, as well as the completion of any other required compliance training in order to participate. If you have any questions regarding the training, please contact Ms. Glenda Denton (glenda.denton@tamuc.edu) or 903-886-5766.
  4. All students must be on an active protocol (IACUC, IBC, or IRB) to apply.  If your advisor feels that no protocol is required, they must submit a statement explaining why no protocol is needed for your research.

All information regarding registration, abstracts, oral, and poster presentations will be posted closer to symposium time.  

Posters should have a maximum size of 3' X 4'.

* The number of students will be limited.  Once that predetermined number has been met, the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs will stop accepting any further applications/abstracts and you will be unable to participate in the symposium.  This may occur without prior notice.
