Students who attended the {I}Experience

Service is a unique and experiential opportunity where students can meet new people, develop skills, explore values and beliefs, and transfer and apply classroom knowledge, all while giving back to the community.  Intercultural Engagement & Leadership offers programs year round to support local, regional, and global communities. Students engaged with these programs will have hands on experience and reflect on the impact and root causes for the needs we help address.

Commerce High School ACE  Mentor Program (Spring 2021)

IEL is partnering with the Afterschool Centers of Education (ACE) at Commerce High School to provide on-going mentorship to high school students. A Pilot program will roll out in Spring 2021 and will continue each semester.

Lions Against Hunger (March 2021)

Lions Against Hunger is meal packaging event where students can serve the global community! This on-campus service event allows students to work collaborative while packaging meals which will then be shipped to families around the world experiencing poverty and food insecurity.

Looking Ahead to 2021-2022

Volunteer Fair

Commerce and the surrounding communities have unique opportunities for our students volunteer, advocate, or support through philanthropy. The Volunteer Fair invites our community partners to meet our students and share volunteer opportunities and resources with them.

Operation Blue & Gold

Operation Blue & Gold is our annual day of service. Students, faculty, and staff join together to complete multiple projects for residents and organizations throughout Commerce. Our goal is to venture off campus into our very own community to meet our neighbors and give back to our community.

Lions for Literacy

Next Spring we will be partnering with local organizations and schools to support literacy. Volunteers will travel with Intercultural Engagement and Leadership to surrounding schools to help encourage and inspire young readers.

Service is not something you have to do through our office. GIvepulse is our online platform for students to find volunteer opportunities and track their hours. The platform also allows for community partners to post volunteer needs. Check it out and set up your profile at https://tamuc.givepulse
