Safe Spaces Ally Project

Lion Family,

Texas A&M University-Commerce prides itself on its dedication to be a welcoming community. The foundation of thriving as a recognized “campus that cares”, is the University’s support for the mission of Safe Spaces. This foundation supports the Safe Spaces national training program that is designed to foster an environment of respect and understanding for all, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identification.

I encourage each of you to learn more about this program, and embrace it through participation. Through this, and other campus initiatives, we can work together to make certain that our University is a place where every member of our community can not only be welcomed and accepted, but celebrated for their uniqueness as individuals.

Go Lions!

Campus Life and Student Development

The mission of the Texas A&M University-Commerce Safe Spaces Ally Project is to enhance the campus and community climate in order to create a safer, freer, and more welcoming environment for all individuals regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.  We work to reduce inequality, homophobia, transphobia, biphobia, and heterosexism.  The Safe Spaces Ally Project is a direct response to the need for increased support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and ally issues on college campuses both locally and nationally, and their surrounding communities.

The Safe Spaces Ally Project at Texas A&M University-Commerce is sponsored by:
