2018

  • Sustainability Team hosted 3rd Annual Earth Day Carnival with over 100 participants; which helped educate Sustainable ways of life on campus.

  • The EcoLions hosted resident, faculty/staff DIY Recycle Craft events.

  • Sustainability Team recycled over 1000lbs of steel and other items during the summer.

  • Sustainability Team conducted a campus wide donation drive during closing at all residential halls. 5 tons of household goods and clothing were donated to Goodwill.

  • Established the RLL Eco Lion Reps and Internship program.

 

2017

  • TRACS Summit Texas Regional Alliance for Campus Sustainability was hosted here at Texas A&M University-Commerce.

  • In April, the Sustainability Team hosted the 2nd Annual Earth Day Carnival with over 85 participants; which helped educate Sustainable ways of life on campus.

  • Sustainability Team hosted resident, faculty/staff DIY Recycle Craft events.

  • Sustainability Team hosted holiday (recycle inspired) family event.

  • The Eco Lions won the Most Creative Homecoming Decorated Window contest.

 

2016

  • Sustainability Team attended TRACS Summit in South Padre to learn new ways to improve Sustainability for ResLife on campus.

  • In April, the Sustainability Team hosted the 1st Annual Earth Day Carnival, which helped educate Sustainable ways of life on campus.

  • Sustainability Team won an award for recycling 8,500lbs of furniture from LRP Recycling.

  • ResLife installed water filtration systems.

  • ResLife purchased new recycling bins for the residence halls.

  • Sustainability Team hosted the 1st Annual Halloween Charles S. Garvin Lake Clean Up.

  • Sustainability Team hosted holiday (recycle inspired) family events.

  • The Eco Lions won the Most Creative Homecoming Decorated Window contest

 

2015

  • ResLife obtained a recycling container from Republic Services. Each month Republic Services would pick it up and haul it to the Recycling Plant in Plano.

  • Sustainability Team won an award for recycling 34,980lbs of mattress box springs from LRP Recycling.

  • ResLife purchased metal crates for cardboard to be recycled.

 

2014

  • Texas A&M University-Commerce Sustainability Team was established.

  • Recycle bins with Sustainability information and “save energy” logos on light switch plates were placed in all freshman halls.

  • Recycle bins with Sustainability information was placed in every room of each residence halls.

  • All recycling was taken to the Commerce Water Treatment Plant until it kept flooding, which lead to the idea of purchasing a recycling container to put on campus.
