All teaching and research activities involving animals are required to be reviewed and approved by Texas A&M University-Commerce’s Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) as well as the Attending Vet or their delegate.

It is the responsibility of the researcher or teacher (PI) to carry out their research and handling of animals in compliance with all federal, state, and university requirements. PIs must be trained and knowledgeable in appropriate laboratory techniques, safety procedures, hazards associated with working animals, and responsible conduct of research. They are also responsible for ensuring that all laboratory staff and students have completed their required training.

Research Training
