Budget Review and Development Council
The Budget Review and Development Council was established in September, 2008 and follows a process, which is both inclusive and transparent, while developing a budget which closely aligns with the mission of the university and the Texas A&M University System. The Council builds upon the existing strategic planning process by linking consensus-based goals to the university budget. The Council engages in a variety of activities, including but not limited to:
- Overall objectives of the process
- Expectations from students, the System, the State, and the public
- The external fiscal environment
- Current practices with regard to internal budget processes
- Priorities from the Planning Implementation Team
- Fund sources
- Mandated expenditures
- Salary plan
- Budget assumptions
- Possible fee increases
- Possible new fees
- Possible tuition increase
The Council’s work culminates with the submission of a recommended budget to the president, which will provide the basis for subsequent development of detailed budgets at the unit level.
