Program Dates: Classes will begin at the China University of Geosciences, Beijing from May 19, 2016 – June 2, 2016. The group will return from Beijing approximately 12-14 days after the departure from the US depending upon airfares and flight availability.

Program Description: The program is a two week cultural and educational exchange. Students will take either an undergraduate or graduate course in one of the approved degree programs within the COB. For the May-Mini term of 2016, the course will focus on “Business Issues in a Global Environment” and will be cross-listed as MKT 497/597. For course substitution purposes, please contact the Program Director.

COB China Study Abroad Competitive Scholarship: Several scholarships are available for this study abroad program. The Study Abroad Competitive Scholarship is funded by Dean of the College of Business. The scholarship is competitive and money is awarded to only COB, TAMUC degree-seeking students who will go to China for the May Mini term, 2016.

A committee of COB faculty will make the determination of who will receive a scholarship. Study Abroad staff will have no input in the competitive scholarship award decision. There are 10 scholarship awards of $1500-$2000. There will be alternates for the scholarship to insure we are able to take 10 students.

***Please note, the above scholarship is different from the scholarship provided by the Office of International Studies of $1000***

Preparation Checklist

  3. Verify with advising where the course fits within your program. 
  4. Verify financial aid for the semester with Ms Maria Ramos
  5. Register for class
  6. Apply for passport/Get your passport. If you don't have one, please go to the Commerce City library. Mr. Jacques L. Fuqua, Jr. has communicated that they are very helpful and VERY INEXPENSIVE to assist in getting it (i.e. forms, official picture, etc.)
  7. Feb 15, Apply for International Scholarship (FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE)
  8. Feb 15, payment of $100, to reserve tickets (refundable within 30 days)
  9. Scholarship awarded Feb. 15, 2016
  10. Pay Fee to insure Scholarship award Feb. 29, 2016
  11. Mar 15, Apply for VISA, payment of $100, to (non-refundable)
  12. Apr, Final payment
  13. Apr 23, orientation meeting
  14. May, pre-departure meeting
  15. May 16-May 30, 14 days for trip to China
