The College of Business Career Services will collaborate with students and alumni to achieve their career-related goals. In partnership with Career Development, College of Business Student Societies, and the faculty and staff, we will optimize internships, jobs, and career opportunities through career planning, career building workshops, and real world experiences with potential employers.

Primary Goals

  • Deliver a quality program that provides COB students with career-preparation programs and services to develop the essential skills needed to excel in today’s competitive global economy
  • Develop relationships with alumni and employers resulting in internship and full-time career opportunities for students
  • Serve as a valuable recruitment tool for business partners

DISTINCTION IN PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

The Distinction in Professional Development (DPD) will help students develop a balanced portfolio of academic, career readiness, and leadership skills to place them on the path to professional success. DPD offers students the opportunity to “stand out” from the rest with a Distinction in Professional Development, a marketable skill to add to their resumes. Students develop professionalism that gives them a competitive edge securing employment and internships.

Students are given further distinction with an Exemplary, Proficient, or Acceptable rating. This program provides students an interactive, professional learning experience that opens the doors to local and regional employers.

Students will Learn how to:

  • Deliver an effective speech or presentation
  • Create a professional resume and cover letter
  • Utilize social media for job searching activities
  • Create their E-Portfolio
  • Properly network with businesses
  • Give Elevator Pitches
  • Conduct a professional interview
