Master of Science in Higher Education - Emphasis in College Teaching

Requirements:

  • Complete Application for Admission to Graduate School.
  • File official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate work.
  • At least one of the following:

    • Official GRE scores or
    • An awarded bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university with:
      • at least a 3.00 GPA on the last 60 hours of the degree or
      • an overall GPA of at least a 3.00 of the degree
  • Meet with advisor to file official degree plan before completion of 9 semester hours.

Courses: 36 Semester Hours

Major: 18 Semester Hours in Higher Education

    *HIED 528 Philosophy of Education
      HIED 542 Analysis of Teaching in Higher Education
    *HIED 595 Research Methodologies
      HIED 621 Effective Teaching/Learning in Higher Education
      HIED 651 Curriculum Development in Higher Education
        or  HIED 541 Community College Curriculum
      HIED 656 Higher Education and the Law

Minor: 18 Semester Hours of Graduate-Level Courses in a Teaching Field to be selected in consultation with advisor.
