Department of Health and Human Performance offers MS in Health, Kinesiology & Sport Studies with following concentrations:

Concentration in Athletic Administration

The Athletic Administration concentration is a practically-based master’s program designed specifically for full-time teachers and coaches who are interested in advancing their careers within the profession of Athletic Administration.

The Master of Science in Health, Kinesiology, & Sport Studies with concentration in Athletic Administration is an 100% online, one-year, 30-hour degree program. This includes 9 hours in the Fall and Spring semesters with 6 each Summer term. Courses are scheduled so that the program will be completed in one year, but students can spread out the coursework over a longer period of time if they choose.Students have the option to complete an internship with this concentration.

Students in this program will learn and incorporate a combination of theory and practice to the field of athletic administration. The student will be challenged to apply concepts from the following areas to their own current or future careers in athletic administration :

Concentration in Health Promotion

The Health Promotion concentration is geared toward individuals who work or desire to work in the wellness field.  Coursework includes program planning and implementation of health promotion programs; health psychology; global health; and health promotion with special populations; among others. This program is offered both in thesis and non-thesis track.

The degree is offered 100% online to be more accessible to the working professional.  Students in this program will receive professional training and development in the ares of:

  • Corporate
  • Commercial
  • Community
  • Cardiac Health Promotion.

Concentration in Exercise Science

The Master of Science in Health, Kinesiology, & Sport Studies with a concentration in Exercise Science is a practically-based master’s program that is specifically designed for students who wish to further their education in:

  • Advanced Exercise Physiology
  • Kinesiology & Biomechanics
  • Research Methodology
  • Strength and Conditioning
  • Sport Nutrition
  • Health or Sport Psychology

Students will have opportunities to receive hands-on training in health & fitness testing, such as body composition, cardiopulmonary exercise testing, and muscle strength testing. Graduates may work as exercise physiologists in cardiac or pulmonary rehabilitation facilities, corporate wellness centers, and other fitness facilities. Other avenues include personal training, strength and conditioning coaching, performing exercise science research with various populations, and/or advancing to Ph.D. or other professional/allied health programs.
