A&M-Commerce Music Instructor Honored as UNK Distinguished Alumnus
Texas A&M University-Commerce Adjunct Instructor Dr. Kory Reeder was recently honored with the Gary Thomas Distinguished Music Alumnus Award from the University of Nebraska Kearney (UNK). Reeder is a 2016 graduate of UNK and also holds degrees from Bowling Green State University and the University of Texas. Reeder, who also owns the contemporary classical music label Sawyer Editions, joined the faculty at A&M-Commerce to teach music history and music theory in 2023. A Kearney, Neb. native, Reeder was a member of various ensembles at UNK and was recognized with the music department's outstanding senior award and the Kearney Symphony Orchestra Award of Excellence. His work for the UNK Theatre production of “Hecuba” was awarded by The Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival for Achievement in Original Composition Music and Sound Effects.
