Batool is currently pursuing a PhD in Computational Linguistics at A&M-Commerce, where she is building upon her passion for language and technology. With a background in applied linguistics, She has gained a diverse set of professional experiences that have allowed her to refine her skills in both academia and the workplace. In her role as a graduate assistant at the Writing Center, she works closely with students to enhance their writing abilities, providing personalized guidance across a wide range of academic disciplines. Prior to this, she served as an Intellectual Property Research Analyst, where she focused on conducting patent research and managing trademark portfolios, sharpening her analytical and research skills in a fast-paced environment.

During her Master's studies at Jordan University of Science and Technology, she had the privilege of working as a Teacher Assistant, where she supported faculty members in delivering lectures, guiding students through coursework and assisting with research. This experience solidified her commitment to education and mentoring. In addition to her teaching and academic roles, she has held administrative positions that strengthened her organizational and leadership capabilities, including serving as a Personal Assistant to the CEO. Her multifaceted background in teaching, translation, research and administration has equipped her with the ability to support students not only in their academic pursuits but also in their personal development. She is deeply committed to helping students reach their full potential and is excited to contribute to their success at the Writing Center.

How do you help students?

    In my role at the Writing Center, I guide students through the intricacies of the writing process, offering personalized support at every stage—from initial brainstorming to final revisions. I provide constructive feedback on aspects such as grammar, structure and argumentation, ensuring that students develop strong writing skills that are applicable across academic disciplines. Furthermore, I facilitate online consultations, extending the Writing Center's reach to distance learners and ensuring equitable access to academic support for all students.

    What would you tell a student who is thinking about attending A&M-Commerce?

      A&M-Commerce provides an inclusive and supportive academic environment where students are encouraged to explore their intellectual curiosities. The university offers extensive resources, such as the Writing Center, to ensure academic and personal growth. The faculty are approachable and the collaborative atmosphere fosters both academic success and professional development.

      Why did you choose your major/what draws you to your discipline?

        I chose to specialize in Computational Linguistics because it seamlessly integrates my passion for language with cutting-edge advancements in technology. This interdisciplinary field not only facilitates a deeper understanding of how language can be processed by machines but also enables transformative applications in areas such as artificial intelligence, natural language processing and machine learning. The potential of this field to revolutionize the way we communicate and interact with technology is what truly excites me, and I am eager to contribute to its ongoing innovation and development.

        What inspires you to keep pushing boundaries in your academic and professional life?

The dynamic nature of computational linguistics offers endless opportunities for discovery, and I am excited by the challenge of exploring new frontiers in artificial intelligence and natural language processing. This vision fuels my desire to push beyond conventional limits, not only in my academic pursuits but in every aspect of my professional life.
