Defining DEIA

A&M-Commerce operates from a set of institutional definitions for diversity, equity, inclusion and access.

Diversity

The A&M-Commerce community defines diversity as both similar and different lived experiences, perspectives, and social identities (race, gender, disability, etc.), acknowledging both the unique and intersectional values and histories which represent our collective humanity.

Equity

The A&M-Commerce community defines equity as apportioned access— prioritizing greatest needs—to resources, infrastructures (buildings, decision-making bodies, organized groups, etc.) and opportunities for the advancement of all, identifying and eliminating systemic barriers to full engagement and participation.

Inclusion

The A&M-Commerce community defines inclusion as the intentional practice of facilitating opportunities for full engagement of all, actualizing the advantages of a diverse and collaborative community.

Access

The A&M-Commerce community defines access as both admittance to and usage of resources, infrastructures (buildings, decision-making bodies, organized groups, etc.) and opportunities, fostering inclusive and equitable communities for all.
