When will licensed carry of concealed handguns on campus be permitted under state law?
August 1, 2016.

Who may carry a gun on campus?
Any individual who holds a current and valid license to carry (LTC) may carry a concealed handgun where permitted on university property.

What if I feel threatened?
Anyone who feels threatened should call the University Police Department (903-886-5111) or Emergency 911.

How will I know if my classmates or students have guns?
Texas Law prohibits LTC holders from intentionally or knowingly displaying a handgun in plain view of another person in the buildings of an institution of higher education, or in driveways, streets, sidewalks or walkways, parking lots, parking garages, or other parking areas. If you see an intentionally displayed handgun in these areas, please contact the University Police Department (903-886-5111).

Will faculty and staff be allowed to carry guns?
Any individual who holds a current and valid license to carry may carry a concealed handgun where permitted on university property.

How will I know where I’m allowed to carry my handgun if I have a license to carry?
In order to provide the effective notice signs will be conspicuously posted and visible to the public in English and Spanish. A&M-Commerce campus signage will address both open carry and concealed carry prohibitions.

Will students receive safety training on gun use?
No, the university does not provide training. 

Can an appointing authority or supervisor request a list of employees who have received a concealed carry permit?
No. This information is not a matter of public record.
