Referendum

1. Fee Increase

The increase would take effect in the Fall of 2015. It would be $85 per semester. The referendum asks students to increase the current fee of $65 per semester to $150 per semester. A summer semester would be pro-rated. It would be an increase $42.50 per summer semester. The referendum asks students to increase the current summer fee of $32.50 per semester to $75 per semester. As a result of Guaranteed Tuition & Fees, the Recreational Sports Fee would increase for newly admitted students beginning in the Fall of 2015. Current students will continue to pay the present Recreational Sports Fee.

2. Morris Recreation Center Expansion

- 30,000 sq. ft. Outdoor MAC Court to accommodate soccer, volleyball, and special events programming

- 10,650 sq. ft. expansion for weight and cardio equipment

3. Morris Recreation Center Remodel of Current Weight and Cardio Area

- 2100 sq. ft. Activity Room for fitness programming and student activities

- 2200 sq. ft. Functional Training Space for personal training, TRX, kettle bell training, and stretching

- 2200 sq. ft. for additional rock climbing space and room to accommodate table tennis and special event programming.

4. Additional Programming

Additional funding will allow Campus Recreation to meet and expand student service needs in our Intramural Sports, Club Sports, Fitness, Outdoor Adventure, Special Events, Aquatics, and Informal Recreation Programs.

5. New Fitness Equipment

Additional funding will allow Campus Recreation to repair and replace old machines with new, innovative, and cutting edge fitness equipment that is operational and under warranty.

6. Increase Hours of Operation

4 hours per week during the Fall and Spring. 2 hours per week during the Summer. 12 hours per week during the Break and Mini Sessions.   

7. Additional Student Employment

With a larger recreation facility and additional programming, more student staff will be needed to meet the service needs of our growing enrollment.

8. Student Service Fee Giveback

Campus Recreation will ask for less funding from the Student Service Fee in the following fiscal years: FY16: $100,000; FY17: $150,000; FY18: $225,000; FY19: $400,000.
